Looking Back: Today we launched our first butane and coke rocket. The rocket did not work as we thought it would work. It did not fly up like we wanted it to. Looking Forward: What we can do better is get a bigger bottle of coke and add more butane to the coke bottle. Then hand launch the coke bottle. How it works: The way it works it's when you put the butane in the top and then you flip it upside down the butane tries to rush to the other side and it creates pressure on the stop of the bottle when u flip it and that pressure pushes the liquid out and that makes the bottle fly up because of the pressure of the liquid rushing out. |

Second Lab Experiment: Playing with Dry Ice
This is our second lab on the properties and phases of matter. We are observing the property of matter. We worked with our table for this, and the materials that we were given in this experiment was a chunk of dry ice, and a beaker with water in it.
Then I placed the dry ice in a beaker with water and the water started bubbling because the gas from the dry ice would bubble out with the water from the beaker. After we placed another piece in a balloon and we tied the balloon so the co2 wouldn't come out of the balloon then the balloon started getting bigger and the gas that was in the balloon is heavier than helium. I worked with victor and gabriel v. We worked well together because we got everything done on time. I worked well because i placed the dry ice in the balloon and i took pictures of the different stages the balloon was in. If I can do this lab again i would do different experiments with dry ice for example doing the pressure chamber lab where the dry ice turns into a liquid and then when u open the chamber it turns into a gas. First lab: Playing with ooblek
The lab worked well it came out the way we wanted it to be. The lab looked like some type of liquid and when you would grab some and start rolling it around on your hand it will become a liquid and when you would stop rolling it will become a liquid again. One of the questions that came up to me is Today during class Andrew was teaching us everything about lab safety and what each label on containers meant.
